Kelly has completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biodiversity at Unitec Institute of Technology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science in Environmental Management at the University of Auckland where she graduated with distinction. Kelly has six+ years in the ecological consultancy environment and is driven to provide best practice ecology solutions to clients that work with the environment rather than separately or against. Kelly believes that we are connected to and a part of the environment and demonstrates this belief though her work/mahi.
Kelly has worked for both governmental, community and private entities as an ecologist, which provides her with a unique view on ecology and how the various aspects, from legal requirements to real world application of ecological management interact. This enables Kelly to approach projects with a variety of different skills and understand the risks and opportunities with different perspectives.
Kelly has an extensive skill set focused in terrestrial ecology. Kelly undertakes a variety of ecological tasks including ecological impact assessments (EcIA), ecology opportunities and constraints, wetland assessments, fauna management plans and implementation and restoration plans. Kelly has worked on a wide scale of projects from large state highway upgrades to one house subdivisions, all over New Zealand and is currently on the board of trustees for the Pukenui Forest Trust in Whangārei as well as coordinating the Pukenui Bat Project.
