Danette holds a BSc (Geology) and an MSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from the University of Canterbury and has more than 20 years’ experience.
Her core skills include testing for contaminants in soils and surface waters, along with remedial management and site validation of contaminated sites.
Danette had eight years’ experience in exploration mining for base metals in Western Australia prior to returning to New Zealand in 2000 and studying for her Masters (Environmental Science). Her contaminated site investigations work since 2003 includes agricultural chemical stores, horticultural and agricultural sites, petroleum storage facilities, timber treatment plants, and closed landfills.
Danette has been working in the investigation, assessment and remediation of soils on HAIL (Hazardous Activities and Industries List) or contaminated sites since the inception of the current National Environmental Standards (NESCS) in January 2011. Should contaminants be found that require it, she prepares remediation action plans to meet the requirements for the National Environmental Standard for Assessing and Managing Contaminants in Soil to Protect Human Health. Danette is a trained facilitator and is well versed in engagement and communications with councils and government agencies.
Through her experience in geology, risk assessment and contaminated land management, supported with the wide range of technical expertise available working within the team at New Zealand Environmental, Danette is able to provide effective and practical solutions to our clients. Danette is a member of the NZIPIM.
